Well, what a fun week LOL
Everything seems to be back online, working properly, and relatively fast too. So that's good! For the moment it would appear that we're all sorted, and ready to get back to business! However, I'm pretty sure this guy will attempt to attack us again in the next 24hours; so it'll be a good test to see if our defences are now in order!
And as annoying as this week has been for many of you, this is actually pretty good for us as a whole. As we've now been forced to properly address our security issues, and we'll be all the stronger for it going forwards. As if it wasn't this $100 script kiddy now, it'd guaranteed be somebody else later.
And now our server has specific mitigation software installed for a couple of very specific attack vectors. And we've attempted to lock down the server at the network level to limit absolutely everything except incapsula traffic. Our webmail has moved off the server and over to Gmail business. All our subdomains are now going through Incapsula. So we should be locked down! ... The question is, did we close everything? As it's a ridiculously complex process; and our programmers are programmers. Not really network / security specialists - so they've had a tough few days! But they've come through for us. Well done Paul & Alex!
In the next couple days, we'll likely be changing the servers IP address again. However that should only result in about 10minutes of downtime max; as your DNS doesn't need to refresh; you'll just go to incapsula like before. It's only incapsula that needs to send you to the new IP.
And we'll also be installing SSL imminently... This doesn't do anything to protect against DDOS attacks, but it'll help us intall BitCoin properly, send out bulk payments securely... And also users like to see it if nothing else! Bit of a $100/year confidence building excercise wink
Today i'm going to attempt a small PV ad issue. Then we'll see how everything goes the next 24hours; and then we'll finally dish out the "biggest ad issue ever" that we've been saving up for you!
If you have lost a substantial amount of BAP as a result of the downtime, submit a support ticket stating how much BAP you think you're owed; and i'll refund you manually. It'll take a few days; as there'll be loads of tickets. (And you may have to re-reply to the ticket a couple times if I do anymore bulk / automated replies - which is quite likely)... But i'll get to you asap!
* Also i'm asking Carlos to send over all the bank records for the last 2 weeks; i'm sure there are some missing wires we haven't added yet. So i'll look into that ASAP. (And if you have a bank wire that's been waiting more than 1 week; definitely open a support ticket)
I think that's about it for the moment!
Let's see how much money gets unblocked tomorrow at PayPal, and we'll start rolling out the cashouts grin
